Tell me - are there any contraindications to the use of this chondroprotector in diabetics?
Svyatoslav Vladimirovich, 51 years old, St. Petersburg.
Good afternoon, Svyatoslav Vladimirovich! The drug Alflutop is a chondroprotector, which is derived from marine organisms. The introduction of this tool restores the cartilage tissue of the joints and relieves inflammation in them. This increases the height of the cartilage tissue and the production of joint fluid by it.
Removal of joint pain occurs after 10-12 days from the start of therapy. Alflutop is used to treat osteoarthritis, in the recovery period after surgery for diabetes or traumatic bone damage. In case of type 2 diabetes mellitus, there are no restrictions in prescribing the drug to relieve symptoms of lesions of large and small joints.
Alflutop prescribed courses for intramuscular injection for 20 days. If large joints are affected, the route of administration may be intraarticular. In this case, the injection is carried out 1 time in 3 days. Total recommended 5 shots in each joint. This method of treatment often leads to an initial exacerbation of pain.
The drug is not recommended for susceptibility to allergic reactions, as well as for autoimmune diseases - rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis and scleroderma. In particular, therefore, in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, there may be worsening of the course of the disease due to an increased production of autoantibodies.
